The educational transition from the traditional approaches to more digitalized approaches has been experienced across the globe. This is based on that educational curriculums have been altered to fit the trends in the modern society. In addition, educational institutions have embraced modernized modes of teaching. A major advancement in education is development of e-learning. This refers to the use of internet and computers for research and projects completion. The trend has been greatly influenced by the increasing preference from the governments, educational institutions and the students. Crain is of the assumption that e-learning has been developed to fit the trendy needs of the modern day student. The educational trend has been encouraged massively in Europe and North America. However, the development of this curriculum requires creation of protocols and technologies that fit educational institutions (Crain). This creates the need to have intervention and support from the government and other stakeholders.
Virtual worlds have become the part of the modern learning system. Learning today has been greatly facilitated by the indulgence of virtual worlds in the system. Virtual worlds have made learning easier and easy to access. In also an obvious assumption that e-learning has more content and quality. For instance, the learning of business has been made efficient through the creation of E-Commerce.
Different from other continents across the globe, the government attitude in Europe and North America is different. The two continents have developed their educational systems and curriculums to fit the e-learning requirements. This can be evidenced by analyzing the educational systems in the countries. The number of students in the need of increasing their participation in online education is highest in these continents. Crain is of the assumption that this influenced by that the government has created friendly protocols and environments that influence the participation of students in e-learning. The author further points out that, development of e-learning in a country is highly determined by the government attitude (Crain). Positive government supports is mainly determined by the level of sponsorship programs the state may provide or fund in support of the curriculum.
Across Europe and North America, educational institutions have received massive support from the government to develop e-learning infrastructures. In addition, governments have also enabled the development of curriculums that fit the e-learning requirements. For instance, schools are equipped with exceptional computer labs and IT systems that increase learning efficiency of the students. Turban, King & Lang point out that the positive approach by the state increase the ability of institutions to provide quality and appropriate e-learning curriculums. From a general perspective, the role of the government in the development of e-learning is enabling perception change on education systems that will embrace the importance and significance of e-learning.
In Europe and North America numerous technologies have been developed to make e-learning requirements implementation easier. Turban, King & Lang are of the assumption that the modern day classroom has to contain e-learning technologies. In addition, instructional technologies are also developed. The scale of usage of technologies is massive. At a lower level, students are introduced to electronic resources that they may use in their educational experiences. At this level, tutors are restricted to only provide basic information that students may understand. The protocol is implemented until the high level education. From this analysis, one may point out that e-learning is used at all level of education and institutions. However, the learning system is mostly used in higher education learning where students have acquired massive skills.
Crain asserts that in the United States and Europe, traditional education systems are rarely practiced as institutions apply e-learning from lower grades. The author further points out that, the regions have developed curriculums that fit the descriptions of different learning levels (Grabinger, Aplin & Ponnappa-Brenner). This has massively improved the quality and level of education. The justification can be evidenced by increasing demands of education in the continents. Special schools are also equipped with e-learning resources. For instance, schools for the disabled are equipped with materials that increase participation of students in electronic activities (Grabinger, Aplin & Ponnappa-Brenner). This includes development of disabled friendly IT systems. Grabinger, Aplin & Ponnappa-Brenner assert that policies and legal clauses have increased participation of stakeholders in creating equal educational opportunities in the e-learning curriculums.
Each learning discipline is provided with specific technology. For instance, the learning of business has been made efficient through the creation of E-Commerce. E-Commerce is the type of business transactions that involves the use of online channels to market, sell and buy commodities. Learning business under e-commerce is more centralized than the generalized way of learning through physical research. Virtual worlds have changed the way in which tutors and instructors approach educational systems. Additionally, the relationship between virtual worlds and learning systems has increased the participation of students in learning activities. It is a general perception by human nature to embrace interesting and new trends. Virtual worlds create a new trend in learning that requires participation of a learner through modern infrastructure.
In another example, mass communications students are exposed to skills that enable them understand social media. This is based on that the rising social media trends have increased the approach to information collection and analysis. This has become a mandatory requirement in the field. For this reason, online learning on social media sites increase the viability of students to compete in the job market. Additionally, it equips students with exceptional skills required in the field.
Numerous types of technologies are implemented to increase the effectiveness of e-learning. The most commonly used is online access to resources and information. Over the years, the quantity of online educational resources has increased significantly. The platform enables a student to access a lot of information. In addition, educational institutions have developed online platforms that their students can access resources. Turban, King & Lang are of the assumption that across Europe and the United States, higher level academic institutions have online portals that contain resources for their students. Different from physical education approaches, the technology increases the ease and quality of information that can be accessed. Another technology used is online education. This allows students to learn full courses without attending physical classes. Students are provided with portal from which they could access institution services and course information. The success of the approach could be evidenced by analyzing the level of demand of the form of learning.
